                                                                      Amy Ackerman

Amy Ann Ackerman 27, was born in Ridgewood, NJ and moved to New York in 1993. She’s been painting her whole life; her father, who also taught her two older brothers to paint, introduced her to the wonderful world of art. Those three men are her guides.

She tends to paint whatever comes from her heart, usually not planning the outcome, but somehow the result is exactly what she’s feeling at that moment.  She’d like to transport the viewer from everyday life and immerse them in the palette she’s created - To have the viewer come away with a sensation they’re not standing on this earth.

Amy’s work is inspired by nature, the elements, night and day, and the color of the sky when the sun is setting on a warm summer night. She says the sky is one of the most beautiful things to her; even a rainy day is beautiful in it’s own way. The mystery and magic that nature provides is in her art. She feels best when interpreting her love for nature through her art.

Amy says “If my books bring a smile to a child’s face, then, I would have succeeded in my goal.” Writing and illustrating books is where she sees her future in the world of art. Amy has her heart set on touching children’s imagination and to give them hope through her stories and art.

Amy is grateful to her family, and friends for supporting her.  That love and support keeps her moving forward, by not giving up regardless of how hard the world of art proves to be.

“I'm very thankful to have a certain talent and be surrounded by people who love me. No matter what happens, as long as I can paint I'll always be happy.”
